Applications for the international Summer School 2026: “Biometrics and Artificial Intelligence”

The Faculty of Computer Science at Białystok University of Technology, Poland, invites applications for the international Summer School 2026: “Biometrics and Artificial Intelligence”, which will take place from 6–19 July 2026. The Summer School is organised as an intensive academic programme designed to provide participants with both solid theoretical foundations and practical skills in the rapidly developing fields of biometrics and artificial intelligence.
The two-week programme comprises 80 hours of instruction, combining academic lectures with hands-on practical training. Classes will be delivered in English by an international team of experienced lecturers and researchers. Participants will receive comprehensive teaching materials and gain access to specialist programming tools used during practical sessions. The curriculum has been carefully structured to guide attendees from fundamental concepts to advanced applications at the intersection of AI and biometric technologies.
The programme includes three complementary thematic blocks:
• Fundamentals of Biometric Systems,
• Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence,
• Artificial Intelligence in Biometrics.
The Summer School is open to foreign students (30 places) and doctoral students (15 places) enrolled in technical degree programmes related to computer science, electronics, physics, or mathematics. Applicants are expected to have basic programming skills in Python, which will be verified through a qualifying test during the recruitment process.
Participants must also demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English to fully engage in lectures, workshops, discussions, and independent work with teaching materials and software tools.
Successful candidates will receive financial support, including a lump sum covering travel costs and accommodation and living expenses, a scholarship.

The project is implemented as part of the SPINAKER program – Intensive International Education Programs – 2024 recruitment. The programme is financed from the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS) and is implemented as part of the NAWA project entitled “Support for the creation and implementation of international education programs” project number nr projektu FERS.01.05-IP.08-0436/23.
