Representatives of Utena University of Applied Sciences at BUT

Representatives of Utena University of Applied Sciences – Utenos kolegija visited BUT on 15-19 January 2024. During their stay, the guests from Lithuania met with the authorities of the university and the faculties hosting them, and held classes and meetings with students.
 

The week began with a Monday meeting with the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at PB, Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng., and representatives of BUT’s International Relations Offices to discuss the possibilities of cooperation between the universities in the fields of teaching, science and student exchange. The guests then visited the Centre for History and took a short tour of the campus and the university library.

On the following days, meetings were held at individual BUT faculties.

At the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Sciences, representatives of Occupational Safety and Environmental Engineering from the partner university in Utena, Grazina Satkauskiene, Ingrida Kepalaitė and Ingrida Pliopaite Bataitiene gave lectures and participated in practical classes and laboratories for students of the Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Erasmus+ programme. The classes were held in the Department of Sustainable Building and Building Constructions and the Department of Construction and Landscaping. Visitors were introduced to the departmental laboratory where research on environmental contaminants is carried out. Possible opportunities and topics for scientific and teaching cooperation were discussed.

The hosts of the visit, on behalf of the WBNS of the Białystok University of Technology, were the faculty coordinators: Natalia Stankiewicz, PhD and Piotr Rynkowski, PhD.

At the Faculty of Engineering Management, lecturers Ruta Puidokaite-Savickiene, Nijole Pakalniene and Giedre Kosteckiene from the Faculty of Business and Technologies, Utena Higher Education Institution (Lithuania) held a class with PhD students on the topic ‘Business model canvas’ on 17 January. On the following day, the guests toured the campus of the and attended a meeting with the authorities. During the meeting, the Faculty was represented by Ewa Rollnik-Sadowska, PhD – Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Education, Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Czerewacz-Filipowicz – Director of the Institute of Management and Quality Sciences, Urszula Kobylińska, PhD – Vice-Dean for Development and Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Ewa Glińska, PhD – Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism, and Aleksandra Gulc, PhD – Faculty Erasmus+ Programme Coordinator. Discussions were held on deepening academic and scientific, in particular in the framework of joint research and preparation of publications, organisation of conferences and exchanges of students and staff under the Erasmus+ programme.

The Faculty of Computer Science hosted a representative of Utena University of Applied Sciences, Jūratė Urbonienė, Head of E-learning Centre. On 17-19 January she held meetings with the authorities of faculty of, during which the process of studying computer science at both institutionswas discussed. Jūratė Urbonienė took part in a class on Computer Architecture with students of the 3rd semester of Computer Science, and on Friday she gave an open lecture – Programming smart solutions with arduino microcontrollers.

The mobility of the university representatives in Utena took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.
