Introduction
The conference “Optical Fibers and Their Applications” is a traditional scientific event that has been organized since 1976. The aim is to summarize the advancements in the field of optical fiber technology and their applications in the region and worldwide. The conference brings together experts from various fields: academia, government laboratories, industry, telecommunications operators, and hardware and software suppliers.
History
The first “Optical Fibers and Their Applications” conference took place in February 1976. Initially, it was organized every three years. Since 1986, it has been divided into two sub-cycles: Technology and Applications, organized every 18 months. The first conferences were held in Jabłonna near Warsaw, at the conference facilities of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Subsequent editions were organized in Nałęczów (previously in Krasnobród) by Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and Lublin University of Technology, as well as in Białowieża, Supraśl, and Białystok by Bialystok University of Technology. Several volumes from this series of conferences have been published in “Proc. SPIE”.
Bialystok University of Technology will organize the next “Optical Fibers and Their Applications” conference in 2025.
