Practical workshops on safety and survival for pupils at the ALO PB

On 6 October 2026, nearly 220 pupils from Years 1, 2 and 3 of the Academic Secondary School of the Białystok University of Technology took part in specialist training on safety, civil defence and survival. The sessions were led by soldiers from the 18th Białystok Reconnaissance Regiment.

The theoretical part of the event took place in the Lecture Theatre of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Białystok University of Technology. The invited experts familiarised the pupils with key issues concerning:

  • procedures for dealing with emergencies and attacks,
  • the correct packing of an evacuation rucksack,
  • interpreting alarm signals and evacuating the school building efficiently.

Following the lecture session, the pupils moved on to practical sessions supervised by military specialists. The pupils had the opportunity to practise survival techniques in the field (including lighting a fire using a flint) and to gain knowledge in the field of first aid. As part of the medical workshops, exercises were carried out on manikins covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), placing casualties in the recovery position, and techniques for evacuation from a danger zone.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the soldiers of the 18th Reconnaissance Regiment in Białystok for their professional organisation of the workshops, their high level of commitment and their comprehensive answers to the pupils’ questions. The sessions were organised by Artur Kuźmicz together with the ALO PB team.
