AI-Powered Education in Focus: Successful MAESTRO-AI Training in Białystok

25-09-2025

As part of the MAESTRO-AI project, a consortium meeting and training session took place at Białystok University of Technology on 22–23 September 2025. The event brought together partners from Greece, Romania, and Portugal to advance the project’s mission of integrating artificial intelligence into the teaching of mathematics and programming.

The training combined conceptual discussions with practical demonstrations. A unified format for the project handbooks was established, ensuring consistency across outputs. The team also focused on the design of Maestro Coursevo, the project’s dedicated e-learning platform. Its structure, navigation, user roles, and assessment integration were reviewed and refined.

A major highlight was the presentation and testing of a customized OpenAI-based model created to support lesson development. The model successfully generated context-aware scenarios for mathematics and programming classes, confirming its potential to enhance teaching effectiveness. Its functioning was tested through multiple example scenarios, verifying that it can produce coherent, context-aware content aligned with teaching goals. In parallel, participants examined strategies for embedding assessments and quizzes into the platform, with attention to designing good questions, automated scoring mechanisms, and adaptive feedback.

The meeting further outlined the framework for the upcoming Winter School in Viseu (Portugal), detailing responsibilities, logistics, and content tracks. The consortium also agreed on a dissemination and publications strategy, setting timelines and identifying key channels for sharing project outcomes with the wider academic and educational communities.

This productive session in Białystok significantly advanced the project’s goals and reinforced the collaborative spirit driving MAESTRO-AI forward.
