10th Forum of Polish Mathematicians

The 10th Forum of Polish Mathematicians (Forum Matematyków Polskich) took place in Białystok from 8 to 12 September 2025. This event was organised jointly by the Polish Mathematical Society, the Białystok Branch of the Polish Mathematical Society, the University of Białystok and the Białystok University of Technology.

Around 150 mathematicians from Poland and abroad gathered at the Forum to discuss the future of education and the challenges of contemporary mathematics.

A notable feature of the Forum was the session dedicated to mathematics teaching, where pedagogical innovations, the role of AI in education, and novel approaches to student engagement were explored.

During this session, Ewa Girejko and Marzena Filipowicz-Chomko presented the findings of the MAESTRO AI project. The titles of their presentations were “AI as a partner in teaching mathematics: results and reflections from practice” (Filipowicz-Chomko) and “AI as a partner in teaching mathematics: an experiment with AI in classes” (Girejko).

Other notable participants from the Bialystok University of Technology included Professors Zbigniew Bartosiewicz, Ryszard Mazurek and Dorota Mozyrska. The official opening was attended by Łukasz Prokorym (Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship), Prof. Dr. Hab. Mariusz Popławski (Rector of the University of Białystok), Prof. Dr. Hab. Inż. Marek Krętowski (Pro-Rector for Science at the Bialystok University of Technology), the President of the Polish Mathematical Society, and others.
