Since 2021, Bialystok University of Technology has been taking an active part in the education of young engineers from China. It is since then that we have been regularly hosting Chinese students studying at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

One of the main objectives of today’s assembly was to summarise the activities carried out within ISE over the past year. Undeniably, the biggest source of pride in the past few months was the graduation ceremony of 118 engineers – the first ISE graduates to be educated in classes taught by BUT and TCU lecturers.

Currently, the study programme open for Chinese students consists of two majors run at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, but Bialystok University of Technology is aiming to expand its offer with courses in electrotechnology that would be conducted at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. During today’s video-conference, members of the Joint Management Committee of ISE unanimously voted in favour of taking official steps to bring us closer to this goal.

– Another crucial point I would like to emphasise at today’s meeting is that we are ready to intensify interdisciplinary scientific cooperation between BUT and TCU. At the beginning of the year, on the initiative of TCU, we started preparing to submit a joint project to the SHENG 4 international competition for Polish-Chinese research projects organised by the National Science Centre. Unfortunately, we had to withdraw due to the lack of documented strong scientific cooperation with TCU, required to participate. I believe that this situation has not discouraged us from continuing but, on the contrary, has motivated us to work even harder in the future. – says Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, Rector of the Bialystok University of Technology.

One of the foundations for developing scientific cooperation with our partner university are the visits of the teaching staff of BUT to Tianjin Chengjian University. During the delegation, our lecturers not only teach ISE students, but also have the opportunity to meet fellow Chinese researchers in person, with whom they exchange personal experiences. Last semester four of our lecturers from the Department of Contruction and Landscaping, the Department of Water Supply and Sewage Systems and the Department of Building Structures and Structural Mechanics travelled to China.
