On April 20th, UN Chinese Language Day, we once again had the pleasure of meeting the youngest students from Bielsko Podlaskie, Siemiatycze, Augustów and Białystok as part of the Białystok Children’s University classes.
In the spirit of the ongoing Year of the Dragon, our teachers explained to the children the significance of this mythical creature in Chinese culture and presented the differences between the Dragon known in Europe and its Asian counterpart.
Class participants also had the opportunity to learn about the Chinese art of papercutting. First, they listened to a presentation on these intricately made handicrafts, and then they proceeded to create their own paper-cuts. After a while, beautiful paper Dragons appeared in the room, the result of the excellent work of the young students.
