Photos by Paweł TadejkoBialystok is the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the largest city in Podlaskie. With a population of less than three hundred thousand, the town, located on the banks of the Biala River, is a true pearl of the North Podlaskie Lowland. In addition, its proximity to Belarus, Lithuania and Ukraine has influenced the cultural diversity of not only this city, but also the entire region.
Bialystok is a magnet, attracting tourists looking for relaxation, beautiful views and magnificent monuments. The most popular architectural object in the city is the famous Branicki Palace with the best-preserved Baroque garden in Poland. The 17th century building is one of the best examples of magnate residences from the Saxon era. It is often referred to as the “Versailles of the North”, “Versailles of Podlaskie” or “Polish Versailles”, as it refers to the palaces of French kings.
It is worth adding that Bialystok is directly adjacent to the Bialowieza Forest, the Narew National Park and the Biebrza National Park. This is a perfect place to combine sightseeing with active recreation in the bosom of nature.
