The Board of the Podlaskie Voivodeship has awarded PLN 1.07 million to the Bialystok University of Technology for activities related to the process of entrepreneurial discovery. Eco-friendly building materials and innovative food additives are just some of the solutions that will move directly from the university\u2019s laboratories to local companies thanks to support from European funds.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n

Bialystok University of Technology will receive funding from the Science\u2013Business Cooperation grant fund.<\/p>\n

\u2014 For us, this is a valuable opportunity to secure additional funding for innovative concepts and research conducted at our university<\/em> \u2014 emphasises Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. \u2014 In this competition, it is crucial to have a product with a sufficiently high level of technological readiness and to establish genuine cooperation with a business partner. Many research teams from Bialystok University of Technology collaborate closely with companies, and the fact that the Voivodeship Board supports these activities is a clear signal that our work for the region is important and needed. This is our mission \u2014 cooperation with the business environment and regional authorities directly translates into the quality of scientific research and the educational process.<\/em><\/p>\n

An example of effective cooperation with industry is the development of durable and corrosion-resistant next-generation concrete lintels. Bialystok University of Technology has been studying the properties of non-metallic reinforcement for a decade.<\/p>\n

\u2014 We want to convince structural designers that non-metallic reinforcement is the future of concrete structures<\/em> \u2014 says Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology and Head of the Department of Building Structures and Structural Mechanics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. In this project, the university\u2019s partner is Prefbet \u015aniadowo.<\/p>\n

\u2014 We plan to use these modern lintels in prefabricated residential buildings, which will significantly accelerate the construction process<\/em> \u2014 explains Julita Krassowska, PhD, Eng, Assistant Professor at the Department of Building Structures and Structural Mechanics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, R&D project leader. \u2014 Thanks to composite reinforcement, these elements will be lighter, and construction will be much faster.<\/em><\/p>\n

The research team also includes Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, Rafa\u0142 Wasilczyk, PhD, Eng, and Marcin Cieluch, MSc Eng<\/p>\n

\u2014 Our task as a research team is to design the lintels and carry out a full testing cycle. The result will be ready-to-use product datasheets enabling immediate market implementation after project completion<\/em> \u2014 explains Krassowska. \u2014 We already see strong interest from design offices and contractors.<\/em><\/p>\n

All of this will be prepared and tested in the laboratories of Bialystok University of Technology.<\/p>\n

The grant is worth PLN 99 734.13.<\/p>\n

  1. Lymphoedema phantom for testing pressotherapy and medical education<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The project involves developing a composite material that mimics the biomechanical properties of tissues in a limb with lymphoedema, and producing a functional phantom demonstrator for testing pressotherapy techniques and medical education. The project covers rheological characterisation of the composite, numerical modelling of fluid flow in the porous structure under compression, and validation of the demonstrator under conditions close to real life.<\/p>\n

The project covers a complete technological solution including material, design, prefabrication, and market preparation, allowing replacement of traditional steel-reinforced lintels with a more durable, corrosion-resistant, and low-carbon alternative.<\/p>\n

            The project focuses on developing and demonstrating a technology for pre-treatment (disintegration) of challenging substrates for methane fermentation using solidified CO\u2082. It is intended for agricultural and waste-to-energy biogas plants processing organic waste and by-products such as slurry (cattle, pig, poultry), slaughterhouse offal, other fat- and protein-rich waste fractions, and co-fermentation substrate mixtures.<\/p>\n

The project aims to demonstrate that glass waste can become a fully valuable raw material improving concrete performance while maintaining environmental principles.<\/p>\n
