CADMD 2025 at Bialystok University of Technology brought together researchers from across Europe, presenting current trends in intelligent technologies and collaborative research projects in key areas of technological innovation.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Researchers from BUT showcased, among other things, a concept for fibre-optic cables with a ring-shaped core, developed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and a concept for a mobile robot capable of changing its form depending on the task. The team working on metamorphic robotics highlighted potential applications of the project in both space technologies and surgical robotics.<\/p>\n

\u2013 This is a new area, developed in collaboration with the University of the Peloponnese. We are creating solutions that could be applied in space technologies \u2013 says Dr. Roman Trochimczuk, Faculty of Electrical Engineering<\/a>, BUT. \u2013 The robot is designed to change its form depending on the task. This allows it to adapt its structure to the conditions and requirements of the work.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Experts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering also discussed research results on the construction of fibre-optic cables with ring-shaped geometry.<\/p>\n

\u2013 These solutions expand the possibilities for using optical fibres in lasers \u2013 explains Prof. Piotr Miluski, DSc, PhD, Eng., Faculty of Electrical Engineering, BUT. \u2013 Multi-ring structures dissipate heat, which is an undesirable side effect of laser radiation generation. This geometry allows us to mitigate that effect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The research is being carried out as part of projects funded by the National Science Centre.<\/p>\n

\u2013 If the results are satisfactory, we plan to pursue patent protection and commercialization \u2013 adds Prof. Miluski.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bialystok University of Technology supports the process of translating research results into industrial applications.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We have already submitted a patent application in this area and are currently awaiting the patent office\u2019s decision \u2013 Prof. Miluski continues. \u2013 The university provides support in market analysis and assessing commercialization potential. We can also rely on the expertise of commercialization specialists.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CADMD 2025<\/a> received 49 paper submissions covering intelligent technologies, robotics, digital systems, and photonics. Researchers from Poland, Ukraine, Greece, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Denmark participated.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The CADMD topics attract the interest of many research centres and reflect the conference\u2019s prestige \u2013 emphasizes Assoc. Prof. Bogus\u0142aw Butry\u0142o, DSc, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, BUT. \u2013 I hope the publications will appear in scientific journals and highlight the role of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, BUT, on the global research stage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The international CADMD conference demonstrates the scope of collaboration between Bialystok University of Technology and foreign universities.<\/p>\n

\u2013 For years, BUT staff \u2013 not only from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering but also the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering<\/a> \u2013 have conducted joint research, published articles, and organized conferences \u2013 says Roman Trochimczuk, PhD, Eng. \u2013 This is a long-term and stable collaboration.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This year, some participants could not travel to Bialystok due to the war in Ukraine, so the conference had a hybrid format.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The war has destroyed a significant part of our infrastructure, but that is exactly why cooperation is so important now \u2013 notes Prof. Mikailo Lobur, PhD, Eng. Head of the Department of Computer-Aided Design Systems at Lviv Polytechnic. \u2013 Bialystok University of Technology offers better working conditions, which gives young people a chance to develop.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The BUT community is actively supporting Ukrainians in difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n

\u2013 I would like to thank Bialystok University of Technology and all the people of Poland for their humanitarian aid \u2013 adds Prof. Lobur. \u2013 Every bit of support, even the smallest, matters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Representatives of Lviv Polytechnic, a co-organizer of the seminar, emphasized the importance of joint actions and ideas.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We have joint projects, including within the Erasmus program \u2013 notes Prof. Lobur. \u2013 Together with the leadership of BUT\u2019s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, we are discussing new initiatives, including projects that could be realized in future calls, e.g., in drone research. This is one of the fastest-growing technology areas in Ukraine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Conferences like CADMD enable the creation of international research teams.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We invite computer scientists, electronics engineers, mechanical engineers, and specialists from other fields \u2013 emphasizes Prof. Lobur. \u2013 This makes it possible to exchange experiences and develop common topics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CAD In Machinery Design Implementation and Educational Issues (CADMD) is one of the most enduring Polish-Ukrainian scientific initiatives. The meetings were initiated in the 1990s in Warsaw, and from the beginning, the formula assumed collaboration between Polish and Ukrainian institutions. The scope of topics has expanded along with technological development.
