19-09-2022
two boys, a girl and a man are looking at the robots made of building blocks standing on a table, the constructions are presented by a BUT student

Bialystok University of Technology built cool cars, both race cars and a monster truck – said one of the thrilled parents participating in the Picnic in the green areas of the university. Presentation of achievements and inventions of the student research circles also attracted much interest.

– BUT is open to everyone. This is our mission. We’re showing our potential and capabilities – emphasises Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. – We’re providing opportunities for family integration and entertainment. Our students present their achievements – you can see them in person, touch them, learn how they work and try them out.

During the picnic, you could see the constructions designed and created by student scientific circles of BUT, such as a monster truck, CMS-08 race car or a Mars rover.

– The first thing that caught my attention was the race car. I’m very impressed by the work its creators put into it – said Artur Kosicki, PhD, Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.– It really goes to show the level BUT is at. I’m glad that the Podlaskie Voivodeship is one of the supporters of the construction. Above all, however, I applaud both the Dean and all the people involved who put enormous effort and spent a lot of time in order to create the car.

Students of the SumoMasters subdivision of the Robotics Student Association at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of BUT presented autonomous robots that can fight each other like sumo wrestlers.

The Student Research Circle Orthos presented sensory tunnels and pressure vests for autistic children experiencing proprioception disorders. – A child with ASD can enter the tunnel and have their own safe space – circle members explain.

Participants of the Picnic could also learn about the achievements of the following Student Research Circles: Leśników (Forestry Research Circle), Rolka, CON-KRECIK, Konstruktor, Youth Circle of the Polish Association of Engineers and Sanitary Technicians (PZITS) operating at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences of BUT, as well as Cerber Motorsport of the Auto-Moto-Club, Orthos, BioInvention and Robotics Research Circle operating at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of BUT.

They could also donate blood in a mobile blood donation unit of the Bialystok Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Centre (RCKiK). In addition, there was an outdoor cinema screening “The Lego Movie” and the big blockbuster “Joker”.

Free attractions for the youngest visitors, such as soap bubbles, face painting, euro bungee, candyfloss, ice cream, climbing walls and others were prepared too. It was also an opportunity to see a display of cars of the Association of Old Motoring and Technology Enthusiasts “Moto Retro”, as well as the stands of:

Podlaskie Folklore Museum, Łukasz Górnicki Podlasie Library (Książnica Podlaska), Podlaskie Museum in Bialystok, Podlasie Institute of Culture, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, Voivodeship Road Traffic Centre (WORD) in Bialystok, Office of the Marshal of Podlaskie Voivodeship.
