Our teachers, Weiwei Zheng, Chunyu Liu and Xinlong Gao, met the pupils from a group called \u2018Domek\u2019 (&#8216;Little House&#8217;) and introduced them to the history and meaning of the Chinese word \u5bb6 (ji\u0101). One of the meaning behind this character is \u2018family\u2019 or \u2018home\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Assisted by the teachers, the children practised writing the character, at first using brushes and water and then using coloured pencils. Preschoolers were also tasked with drawing a pig under a roof. The illustration represented the literal meaning of the character consisting of two elements (&#8216;radicals\u2019) &#8211; \u5b80 (mi\u00e1n) and \u8c55 (sh\u01d0), i.e. \u2018roof\u2019 and \u2018pig\u2019, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting wrapped up by learning and singing a song about two tigers (\u4e24\u53ea\u8001\u864e, li\u01ceng zh\u012b l\u01ceoh\u01d4) in Chinese.
