More than 30 students from China came to study Civil Engineering at our University under a double-degree agreement.

It is another phase of the cooperation between Bialystok University of Technology and Tianjin Chengjian University, started in 2013. Until now, the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering have hosted employees of Tianjin Chengjian University as visiting professors, while two scientists from our University have worked at the university in China. Owing to the experience gained at the partner universities and during working visits, a double-degree agreement concerning the field of study of Civil Engineering was signed in March 2016.

Thirty-four Chinese students are going to start their first-cycle or second-cycle studies. ‘Students in the first-cycle programme are going to stay at our Faculty for one year (two semesters). The group in the Master’s degree programme will leave us in summer – they will be here for one semester only’, informed Beata Backiel-Brzozowska, PhD, Eng, from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

All the classes and lectures attended by the Tianjin Chengjian University students will be conducted in English. ‘Our Faculty has been offering studies in English for many semesters now. The number of students studying in this language – under the Erasmus+ exchange programme or international agreements between universities – is increasing every year. In cooperation of our Chinese partner university, we have added a few courses to the curriculum of the TCU students, for the study plan to be equivalent to the one for the 6th or 7th semester of Civil Engineering’, explained Robert Ziolkowski, PhD, Eng, from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
